Milan to Zone

Bike day! I went to BiancoBlu to pick up my bike and met Rubens & Maria Elisa who were picking up a GS.
Rubens & Maria Elisa are from Brazil and will be touring to the south.
On the left, Renato, owner of the shop.
New amigos!
Set to go!
The first three quarters of an hour were a disaster. I couldn't see my GPS, I missed several turn-offs (on the autostrada, off, on again, wrong direction, wrong turn... yiekeees!!). I eventually rigged a way to see what I was doing and everything was fine... like these flowers... the rest of the way.
Only thing is, I didn't know where I was half the time (by name). I just know these pictures were on the road leading to Lake Iseo...
all pretty...
all nice...
Stopped here...
because the lovely view included...
...a castle!
And it was just outside Paratico...
More important, I stopped on a Fruit store's parking lot to take the picture and the nice lady inside gave me a BIG, juicy, fresh apple! :)
Lake Iseo... There's a bit of "haze" in these pictures. Very bright out.
Too bad. The human eye still sees the lovely turquoise colors in the water.
Poppies growing wild along the side of the road.
This might be Italy's shortest tunnel. As I drove along the lake, I went through at least three mountains... each tunnel was several kilometers long.
Immaculate fields...
Peaceful...
Rural paradise!
More views...
... along Lake Iseo...
Lovely...
The main road is above all the small towns.
That way, traffic doesn't destroy idyllic!
Turned off main road towards Zone.
Why Zone?
Check out the background...
Pyramidi... more later on the page. Note the house up the mountainside!
Time to travel further up the mountain...
Get closer to mountain heaven...
... and visit the actual town of Zone.
Zone...
.........
...........
Very lifelike, don't you think?
Houses in the town proper but look for white specks... more houses on the mountain shelves.
A way of getting supplies to the top of the mountain.
A view of part of the Zone road.
Switchbacks are called "tornado"... this one wasn't too tight. Others were but the roads (paving and banking) were exceptional.
These "pyramidi" are why I chose to come here.
Enjoy a few views of these unusually formed spires!
.......
.......
........
The town is above the pyramidi.
Wider view.
Look up the green part of the mountain for more of those "hanging" houses!
On the road directly below Zone.
Narrow streets, cool housing!
Room with a view...
A beautiful view on the way back up the Iseo road.
Great place to live...
... and have recreation at!
Long tunnel ahead!
Back at Hotel Piccolo. Pretty fancy parking for my ride!
Hmmm... the church turns out to be a dance club! :)
