Boat trip? Why not? I just sat back and enjoyed the ride. To be honest, I barely listened to the guide's commentary. Here's some of the sights I remember a bit about...This is the stage area of an outdoor theatre where the audience sits on one side of the river and the play is on the other.
In the background of this picture is the building that you saw all lit up in the previous night's pictures.
You're now looking back under a low bridge we just travelled under. I suppose the reason you don't realize the river is there is that the "bridges" all at street level.
We passed by a couple (check the inserted picture) getting married on an "island" on the river.

These hotels were on the main river (not the canal/Riverwalk). Darned if I can remember the tree's significance but isn't it a beauty?
After river flooded one year, a tree started growing out of a wall of this inn/pub (?) on the river and it remains growing.
The stuff in this tree got there during one of the floods. The river must have been quite high, eh?
